Rising Eagles Experience: Welcoming the next generation of Signal Mountain Eagles
The Rising Eagles Experience is a new, year-long event series designed to welcome 5th graders and their families to the Signal Mountain Middle High School community.
From campus visits to community-building events, the Rising Eagles experience will ensure our new Eagles feel connected, informed and excited about the opportunities ahead at SMMHS!

IB 101 & Rising Eagle Parents Night - October
All 5th grade parents are invited to a more formal introduction to Signal Mountain Middle High School including what to expect in this next chapter and campus tours. As a proud member of the globally recognized International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, and the evening will also include a special panel conversation with our lead College Counselor, UTC Academic Advisor, IB Coordinator and a current IB student and parent to learn what sets IB apart, how it compares to AP, and whether it could be the right path for your student.
5th Grade Family Tailgate - October
Friday Night at Eagle Alley is a beloved Signal Mountain tradition that every future Eagle should experience. Fifth-grade students and their families are invited to join the MEF Tailgate before kick-off to enjoy food, games, and plenty of school spirit while meeting future classmates, connecting with current students and families, and getting an inside look at life at Signal Mountain Middle High School.
5th Grade Basketball Night - January 2027
Our newest eagles should feel at home before they ever walk through the doors on day one. Fifth-grade students and their families are invited back to campus for a special evening designed to help them explore life at SMMHS. Student Council members will host campus tours and answer questions, while MEF provides dinner and more pre-game fun. Guests will then be invited to a special VIP section to watch the varsity boys basketball in action.
6th Grade Signing Day - February
Our newest Eagles and their parents are invited to officially “commit” to their next adventure as students sign their SMMHS certificate and are welcomed into the Eagle family. This special night will celebrate the next generation of Eagles with dinner, games, swag, photo opps, and plenty of school spirit to mark the beginning of an unforgettable middle school journey.
Back-to-School Pool Party - August
SMMHS’s newest 6th grade class is invited to kick-off their beginning of the school year at an exclusive pool party at the Town Hall, including pizza, music, games, and plenty of end-of-summer fun. Students will meet new friends and make memories before the year even begins!
